On May 27, the Arts Center will welcome Bay City Academy, who will be putting on a student production of The Sound of Music Jr. There will be two public performances at the Arts Center on May 27: an 11:00 AM matinee and a 7:00 PM evening performance.
One of the most beloved musicals of all time! The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, Maria and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision.
In this adaptation for pre-high school students, the content has been edited to better suit younger attention spans, but all the elements that make this show a classic are still in place.
Admission to both events is free, but donations are gladly accepted to support the Bay City Academy Drama Department and future productions. There will be no advance tickets and seats will be provided on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis.
